Marbella Mayor Angeles Munoz (El Partido Popular, PP) slopes and promises that there will be built a few skyscrapers in Marbella municipality.

In late November 2013 adopted by the City Council with the help of the PP’s absolute majority adjustment of the town plan, to allow several skyscrapers. The project that was most developed was a skyscraper designed by architect Ricardo Bofill, to be constructed near the road to Istan.

After a Facebook platform against the plans formed, led by several Marbella Profiles, crates Marbella Mayor Ángeles Muñoz. She says she respects the great resistance encountered and promises that there will be no skyscrapers at all. She adds that the news should automatically put an end to the debate.

Mijas Pueblo can become world heritage

The City Council in Mijas Pueblo has now embarked on a process to get UNESCO to designate Mijas Pueblo World Heritage Sites. The municipality has prepared an application to be sent to UNESCO and the process is expected to take two and a half years and will aim to preserve the Andalusian architecture of this enclave.

The application goes on to the Andalusian Government recommending the Ministry of Culture to propose Mijas Pueblo as World Heritage by UNESCO.

It is currently 254 cities in the world that are considered world heritage site. 17 of these are located in Spain and is: Salamanca, Aranjuez, Segovia, Avila, Oviedo, Cuenca, Cáceres, Toledo, Santiago de Compostela, Ibiza, San Cristobal de la Laguna, Merida and Alcalá de Henares along with Granada, Cordoba, Ubeda and Baeza in Andalusia.

The municipality of Mijas Pueblo received in 1969 the award Conjunto Histórico Artístico.
